Body mist and body spray manufacturer
We make body mist, body spray and body splash for retailers' own brands and for fragrance and fashion brands, in plastic or glass, with alcohol or alcohol-free. A body mist is a lighter, larger bottle than a perfume, sprayed freely and bought again often, which is why it is the first product many own-brand fragrance ranges launch.
Why retailers start with body mist
A body mist sits at an easy price, comes in a generous bottle and gets used up quickly. Shoppers buy it for themselves, as a gift, and again when it runs out. For a retailer building an own-brand fragrance range, that makes it the product with the steadiest sell-through and the simplest story on the shelf. It also lets a range carry several scents at once without the cost of a full perfume launch for each.
For a fashion or beauty brand, a mist is a low-risk way to put the brand's own scent in front of customers before committing to an eau de parfum.
Formats we make
Our catalogue body mist is a 235ml bottle at about 3% fragrance oil, sold in counter display boxes of 6 and 18. We also make 100ml and 200ml mists, smaller travel sizes, and an alcohol-free family covered on the Body & Hair Mist page. The same filling lines run glass and plastic.
Plastic bottles and alcohol content
Most mass-market body mist is sold in plastic. It is lighter to ship and safer in a bathroom. Plastic and a high alcohol share do not always sit well together across a long shelf life, so for plastic bottles we bring the alcohol down in the formula. We check the result in a stability test run with the final bottle, pump and cap, because the pack can change how the scent behaves.
Shimmer, colour and finishes
Shimmer mists use a pearlescent suspension that needs a shake and a clear bottle to show. Coloured juice needs a check against light. Both are tested before we fill. On the outside, bottles can be coloured, frosted, sprayed or printed, and sleeves and boxes are made to your artwork. If a bottle combines a frosted body with hot stamping, we test it against transport simulation first, because that pairing is the one most likely to scuff.
Shipping a body mist
Alcohol-based mist is classed as dangerous goods, which limits air freight and many parcel services. Most of our body mist goes by sea, about a month on the water to the US or Europe. If your channel depends on air or parcel shipping, for example a direct-to-consumer brand selling online, ask about our alcohol-free mist. Without the alcohol, the product is not handled as flammable goods.
Matching a range
Body mist rarely stands alone. A retail range usually carries the same scent in a mist, a perfume and sometimes a body lotion or shower gel, so the shopper can layer them. We build the mist from the same fragrance family as the perfume, at its own lower load, and test each product on its own. Questions buyers ask
What is the difference between a body mist and an eau de toilette?
Mostly the concentration. Our catalogue body mist carries about 3% fragrance oil, against roughly 10% or more for our everyday perfume lines. A mist is sprayed more freely and more often, so it is sold in bigger bottles at a lower price. Our guide on body mist and EDT goes further.
Can the body mist go in a plastic bottle?
Yes, and most retail body mist does. With a plastic bottle we lower the alcohol in the formula, because a high alcohol share and some plastics do not sit well together over the shelf life. The stability test is run in the final bottle to check it.
Can body mist be shipped by air?
An alcohol-based mist is classed as dangerous goods, so air freight is limited and most goes by sea. If air or parcel shipping matters to your channel, an alcohol-free mist removes that problem. See Body & Hair Mist.
Can we match the mist to a perfume in the same range?
Yes. Retail ranges often carry one scent across a perfume, a mist and a lotion. The oil is the same family; the mist is built at its own lower load and tested on its own.
